Baler not picking up

My MF2140 will get a good bunch of hay in it but then the pickup wheel stops-looking for any advice to remedy this please.

i think the pickup slip clutch is the likely cause of this issue. it's designed to slip when there's an overload to prevent damage, but if it's too loose, it will stop spinning even under normal load. it's usually a matter of tightening the nuts on the clutch springs a turn or two at a time until it holds the load so i suggest you check your owner's manual for the correct procedure on how to do it that. just make sure you don't over-tighten it, or it won't slip when it needs to!! a less common but possible cause could be a broken shear bolt, though that usually results in a more sudden and complete stop of the pickup.

I'd also first check the pickup clutch on the side of the baler.. it can get a bit sticky or just plain worn out and slip under load like @k.idmnt66 mentioned. If it's a belt drive, check the tension on that belt. A little slack can make all the difference! Also take a close look at your pickup teeth since a bent or missing tooth can mess with the timing and cause it to bind up, making the pickup feel like it's stopping. Hope you get it sorted out quick. Hay's not getting any younger!!

If there's stuff stuck around the pickup, it could stop the wheel from moving. Try getting rid of any that's there and maybe move the pickup height up a bit. That could sort it out.

Did you also check the tension on the pickup drive chain or belt? It might be too loose or worn out.
