Can a Massey 4260 run a 9' mower?

What do you all think about a Massey Ferguson 4260 with front assist? I saw one and I am thinking of getting it. Needs a bit of fixing, but the price is good and I can do the work myself. Right now I mow with a Ford 4610 and a Kuhn FC240, and that setup works fine on our flat land.

I'm mostly looking at the Massey because it has a better transmission (12x12 shuttle shift), which I think will help with baling. I'm also wondering if it could run a 9-foot mower conditioner later on. The specs say it might be just enough power, but I'd like to hear from anyone who's tried something like this. The 4260, equipped with front assist and a 12x12 shuttle, is great for baling. It can manage a 9' mower conditioner, but you'll need to keep an eye on the PTO load and cooling as it'll be pushing the limits. It's a solid choice if you're comfortable getting your hands dirty with some maintenance

The 4260 is just strong enough for a 9-foot mower. It'll work fine on flat land, but don't expect to go super fast. Thankfully, the front assist will ease the load.

You're right about blade care, you can totally tell on those mid-size tractors when the blades are dull! That 12x12 shuttle shift is great for fieldwork when you're changing direction a lot.

Front assist is a nice way to get better grip without going full 4WD, just keep an eye on the hydraulic pump when using many remotes, since they can get hot when working hard. Plus, getting Massey parts through AGCO dealers isn't too bad.
