I've herad stories about this thing being stubborn to eliminate and I always told myself how lucky I was that I didn't have to deal with it until a few weeks ago. I started noticing bright green patches in dense clupms and after a quick consultation it was clear I had Cogongrass problem, so not I want to get rid of it. Which herbicite should I use? The ones I have a broadleaf ones, so I doubt they'll do any good. Most importantly, how the heck did this happen?

Yep, cogongrass is nasty, try glyphosate or imazapyr, broadleaf stuff won't help. Imazapyr works better long term but can kill nearby plants. It probably came in on fill dirt or equipment, so the agenda now is spray, wait, repeat. It takes time, but you can beat it.

Cogongrass is a real headache, like trying to get rid of dandelions on steroids. The recommendation of glyphosate or imazapyr sounds right since broadleaf herbicides usually don't touch it. It likely hitched a ride into your field somehow, maybe on fill dirt or equipment, so consistent spraying and keeping an eye out for regrowth will be key to winning this battle.

Ugh, welcome to the Cogongrass club. Unfortunately... that stuff's gonna spread faster than gossip. Broadleaf herbicides won't touch it, you'll need something with imazapyr or glyphosate. That's what they all said and I totally agree. It's the only stuff that helped with my Cogongrass problem.

Broadcast Treatment for 20 gal.
Glyphosate 1quart
Imazapyr 1 1/2 pints
Non-ionic Surfactant 6oz
Spot Spray
Glyphosate 2.6 oz
Imazapyr 0.6 oz
Non-ionic Surfactant

Thanks for sharing this mix, really helpful to have both the broadcast and spot spray ratios laid out so clearly
