The mid summer spray is among us, but I'm in a bit of a pickle. The winds around here haven't calmed during the day, so I'm thinking about spraying at night. Anyone did some comparison to outline this for me? I don't mind trying it, but I want to know what I should expect.

night spraying is actually a good idea when the winds are up! the main thing to watch out for is the dew. you'd want to spray before it gets too heavy, but a little bit of dew on the leaves can actually help the herbicide stick. just be sure to check the label for any specific instructions about spraying with dew. another benefit is there's usually less drift to worry about at night, but the biggest thing to be aware of is temperature inversions. you want a night with a light breeze, not dead calm, to avoid the spray just hanging in the air!!

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm following the weather forecast and trying to find the perfect time to spray. I'll let you know how it goes. @k.idmnt66 you mentioned a little dew, but not too much, how do you usually decide which is the right?

Spraying at night can definitely help with wind drift, but keep in mind cooler temps and higher humidity can slow down herbicide uptake. You might get less immediate visible effect, but it usually still works if the plants are actively growing

I've done that before because I was running out of daylight. I just made sure to get it done before the dew started to form so the spray would work correctly. The winds in March can make it tough to find a good time to spray.
