Need some advice about equipment

I'm in need of abale machine so I have a few questions. The first one is which is better round or square? The second one is which machine should I get? I know these are pretty generic questions, so let me know what kind of additional info you need oto give me some answer

there's no single better option between round and square as it boils down to your specific use and needs!! i'd need more info so i can try to give you an advice. what tractor are you using and what kind of hay are you baling? it will also be helpful to know your storage situation, how much hay you anticipate annually and if you're selling it.

But generally, round bales are ideal for large operations and feeding cattle. They're faster to bale, shed water better when stored outside, and let you put up a lot of tonnage with less labor. The main drawbacks are needing a loader to move them and potential waste without the right feeder.

Square bales are great for smaller farms and horse owners. Small squares are easy to handle by hand, store neatly, and sell for a premium, but they're labor-intensive. Large square bales offer the density of rounds while stacking neatly, but they require a bigger tractor and budget.

To give you an insight, round bales are great for bad weather and quick work with less manpower, especially if you're feeding livestock. Think 4x4 or 4x5 sizes. While square bales has better storage efficiency, fetching better prices. But, fair warning, they demand more elbow grease. You've got your small 14x18 ones or the bigger at 3x3, 3x4, or 4x4.
