this fall i plan to use a mix of alfalfa and some other seeds, so I need some recomendations about herbicides? I'm looking for something that covers multiple plants. Wiht that said, would this even work or should is stick with just alfalfa?

Oats are common mixes with alfalfa. For herbicides in young alfalfa, look at Pursuit or Raptor for broadleaf and grass. For just grass, try Poast Plus or Select.

maybe plant just alfalfa first, then add other seeds later? or pick your mix carefully and find a matching herbicide.

Butyrac 200 (2,4-DB), it's safe for alfalfa, clover and other legumes.

it's possible to use herbicides in an alfalfa mix. but finding just one effective, and safe option for a wide variety of weeds and different plants can be complex. planting pure alfalfa is simpler and can have more effective herbicide options.

planning ahead for fall, smart move!! i second @Cropman80, 2,4-DB is often used in alfalfa and can control many broadleaf weeds! but since you're planning to do a mix, knowing the other seeds, especially if they have very different herbicide sensitivities, can help us give an informed recommendation. what else are you thinking of planting?

Which one are you specifically looking for? At least let us know whether you prefer organic or not. Would love to help and I got a long list here. :)

If your goal is to get a good seedbed prep, proper seeding rates and regular cutting at the right time to manage weeds. Then, the mix of alfalfa and some other seeds is what you need. But I recommend using just alfalfa if you want wide weed control. Just make sure to read the instructions.
