Pregnant doe suddenly refusing hay

My Nubian is about 6 weeks from kidding and has completely stopped eating her grass hay, she's still drinking water and nibbling on leaves in the pasture, but turns her nose up at the hay feeder. Should I be worried? or try a different type of hay? she's my first pregnant doe and I'm probably overthinking everything but I want to make sure she's getting enough nutrition

it's super common to stress over your first pregnant doe but don't worry!! it's not unusual for does to get picky in the last few weeks since a big load of kids can press on their stomach. as long as she's bright, drinking water, and nibbling something, a complete hay strike for a day or two isn't a panic. your idea about a different hay is a good one. maybe try offering a high-quality alfalfa hay? it's leafier, smells sweeter, and is usually much more palatable to a picky doe in late gestation. you can also try offering her hay in a different, easily accessible spot. if she stops eating everything, stops drinking, gets sluggish, or starts grinding her teeth, then that's the time to call your vet!!

the goat really completely stopped eating hay? oh man, that's not good. looks like she's sick, you definitely need to bring her to the vet

I would take her to the dr if I were you. meanwhile, try to replace the hay with other goat food, like Almond Hulls, beet pulp, etc.
